Effect of polycaprolactone nanocapsules loaded with essential oils on biofilm formation by Staphylococcus aureus strains isolated from bovine mastitis cases

چکیده
Bovine infectious mastitis is largely resistant to antibacterial treatment, mainly due mechanisms of bacterial resistance in the biofilms formed by Staphylococcus aureus. Melaleuca (MEO) and citronella essential oils (CEO) are promising agents for reducing or eliminating biofilms. Free melaleuca oil presented a medium Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) 0.625% Bactericidal (MBC) 1.250%, while free showed MIC MBC 0.313%. Thus, CEO MEO demonstrate bacteriostatic bactericidal potential. We generated polymeric nanocapsules containing evaluated their efficacy at S. Glass polypropylene spheres were used as test surfaces. To compare responses encapsulated oils, strains submitted 10 different procedures, using nanoencapsulated (EOs) vitro. observed no biofilm reduction MEO, nanoencapsulated. However, reduced formation on glass (p=0.03) tendency diminish (p=0.051). Despite vitro, formulation could be improved modify component polarity and, including obtain more interactions with surfaces matrix.

Slime production by Staphylococcus aureus strains isolated from cases of bovine mastitis.
The objective of the present research was to determine the frequency of slime production by Staphylococcus aureus strains recovered from bovine mastitis and comparison of slime formation frequency, depending on the determination procedure employed. The investigations embraced 59 Staphylococcus aureus strains obtained from the inflammatory secretion of mammary glands of 45 cows. Slime production...
متن کاملA high prevalence of tylosin resistance among Staphylococcus aureus strains isolated from bovine mastitis
The macrolides appear to have considerable effects for treatment of bovine mastitis because of excellent diffusion into the mammary gland, long half-life, low protein binding, high intracellular concentration and lipid solubility. Acquired resistance to macrolides in Staphylococcus aureus is primarily related to target-site modification through acquisition of an erm gene. In t...

Background and aim: Regarding to the importance of Staphylococcus aureuscolonization in bovine mastitis and the role of biofilm in its pathogenesis, the aim of the present study were to assessment of biofilm production and identification of biofilm related genes among S. aureus isolated from bovine with subclinical mastitis. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, a total of 502 m...
متن کاملAntibiotic Susceptibility and Plasmid Profiles of Staphylococcus aureus Strains Isolated from Bovine Subclinical Mastitis in Tabriz, Iran
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives: Mastitis caused by Staphylococcus aureus is a widely distributed disease in cattle, goats and sheep. The infection is often subclinical in cattle, leading to reduced milk production and quality, but acute catarrhal or even gangrenous inflammation may also occur. The aim of this study was to investigate resistance of S. au...
متن کاملComparison of methods for the detection of biofilm formation by Staphylococcus aureus isolated from bovine subclinical mastitis
Biofilm formation is considered to be a selective advantage for Staphylococcus aureus mastitis isolates by facilitating bacterial persistence in the udder. It requires attachment to mammary epithelium, proliferation and accumulation of cells in multilayers. The objective of this study was to determine the sensitivity and specificity of three techniques for the detection of S. aureus biofilm-pos...
